Brakes - Electropneumatic brake (ep brake) and Passenger alarm signal (PAS) for vehicles used in hauled consists
This IRS regulates the implementation of the electropneumatic brake (ep brake) and of the passenger alarm signal (PAS) of vehicles that can be coupled at will in order to make up variable compositions hauled by a locomotive for operational requirements.
The ep brake and the PAS are two systems with respective interactive functions, due to their monitoring devices. Both systems are supplied via a 9-pole ep pipe. The ep brake and PAS systems are intended for passenger coaches, whereas freight wagons are only fitted with the ep brake.
The ep brake and PAS devices can be activated independently of each other.
This IRS is structured in 2 main parts:
- Part I: General and functional requirements (see points 1 - page 11 and 2 - page 15)
- Part II: Specific requirements for vehicles in trains hauled by a locomotive and fitted with a 9-pole ep pipe (see points 3 - page 17 to 10 - page 52)
The detailed technical specifications relating to the application for compositions with traction units with a 9-pole ep pipe are described in the appendices.
