The purpose of this technical report is to collect studies, developments, and general information on the use of low-cost devices for measuring acceleration onboard trains.
The report initially presents the main systems treated, then data collection and processing are defined alongside useful information for track monitoring. Different techniques to improve track localisation are explained before a validation process for a specific measurement system is described. Finally, the impact that an accelerometer’s position has is evaluated.
