ETCS - Implementation Handbook

European Train Control System (ETCS) is a unif ed European track-train transmission based train driving supervision system. It was elaborated in view of the rail transport liberalization to ensure rail transport competitiveness by using the same system in all European countries. This is expected to ensure cost reduction as a result of the scale of implementation and reduction of the development costs as well as seamless trans-border services as a result of European wide compatibility between on-board control command equipment and respective trackside installations.
