Report and benchmarking on the Future Rail Operations Train Control Centre

SYSTRA has conducted a Future Railway Operation Traffic Control Centre (FROTCC) “first step” study on behalf of UIC, of which this document is the final report.

The expected content of the study is a global topical benchmark addressing the following items (extract from the tender document):

• Types of organisation in place, in particular information circuits and governance
• Initial and ongoing training (curricula, tools, pre-requisites for employment, etc.)
• Skills development
• Operational processes
• Current context and knowledge from academic research (postponed to the FROTCC 2 study)
• Automatic train operation (ATO): current summary and views on ATO evolution (postponed to the FROTCC 2 study)
• Statement on current automatic train stop (ATS) deployment
• Information for clients
• Analysis of real situations and identification of annoyances
• SWOT matrix of the identified organisations
• Proposals for next steps
