Wagons. Operation between 1435 mm gauge and 1520 mm gauge networks. Technical provisions and approval conditions

Summary

The technical provisions and technical approval conditions set out in this leaflet apply to new wagons that are to be operated in traffic without transhipment between railways with a track gauge of 1 435 mm and railways with a track gauge of 1 520 mm. These wagons must be built in accordance with the regulations of UIC and OSJD leaflets and the standards of the 1 520 mm gauge railways.

The provisions in this leaflet shall apply to new wagons to be used in this type of traffic with effect from 1.1.1999.

Matters relating to the approval and operating conditions of wagons the design of which does not conform to the provisions of this leaflet but which are built to comply with only the regulations of UIC and OSJD leaflets for the 1 435 mm gauge or only the standards of railways with a 1 520 mm gauge shall be handled on the basis of bi- or multilateral contracts between the railway undertakings (RU) concerned.
