This IRS defines the procedure and conditions applicable to the approval testing of diesel engines for motive power units.
On completion of the test procedure, the engine shall be approved by UIC for unrestricted use in railway motive power units within the area of application. It shall be guaranteed that the engine meets current exhaust requirements.
