Measures to ensure the technical compatibility of High-Speed Trains
Issue: IRS 60670 has given a definition of High-speed railway (HSR) and the characteristics of High-Speed train. In most countries, a high-speed train is understood to be any train suitable for running at speeds of 250 km/h or above. However, the definition of the running speed for HSR may vary between countries.
This IRS deals with measures to ensure the technical compatibility of High-Speed trains.
In order to ensure that the high-speed train runs at its designed-for speed, the infrastructure, energy, and signalling systems of the target operation line shall meet the corresponding high-speed design requirements, for which IRS 60680, IRS 60681 and IRS 60682 may be referred to.
The provisions of this IRS apply to new high-speed trains however existing high-speed trains may also use this IRS as a reference to check their compatibility.
It contains guidelines and general principles for the technical specification of High-Speed Trains.
